I could look at gorgeous, sparkly, jewelry all day – especially if that jewelry is by Craiger Drake Designs. (Side note/moment of truth: that first sentence is so true, considering the fact that when I went on the Craiger Drake website to grab their link, I got distracted looking at their jewelry (again), and almost forgot to get the link.)
Recently, I connected with Denise Drake, who runs the social media for Cragier Drake (and is also Craiger’s gorgeous wife). After chatting, she hired me to do the styling for a photo shoot she had planned. I really enjoy that my job as a stylist introduces me to new people. I feel very lucky that so many of them have been inspiring, kind, supportive, and fun. Denise has absolutely all of those qualities and more.
Denise asked me to meet her at Cragier Drake Designs, which is in the perfect Rittenhouse location. The space is luxurious and inviting. When we met, I was already a huge fan of Denise’s work on the Craiger Drake Instagram feed. She creates this great balance by featuring glamorous jewelry on its own, and then showing how it can be worn in multiple ways, anywhere from dressy to casual. So, when we were discussing the overall theme of the photo shoot, we wanted the jewelry to be the main focus, but we agreed that the looks should showcase the jewelry’s versatility.
The venue that Denise chose was seriously perfect for the vision of the shoot. Stateside Urbancraft Vodka is a bar and vodka distillery located in Fishtown. This bar has a major coolness factor to it, and I absolutely want to go back! I mean, who doesn’t love reclaimed wood and edison bulbs to enjoy while drinking locally made alcohol! Yes, please!
After our meeting, I went shopping for the outfits for our two models (and myself). I found the perfect pieces at some of my favorite Philly/South Jersey boutiques, Shop Sixty Five and Six, with a few great additions from Anthropologie, and my own personal closet. While looking for outfits, my goal was to include current trends as well as trends for fall.
Colors like blush and wine are perfect for the transition into fall. Also, this dress looks like it was made for Amber! That little cutout is playful, yet still classy! Because of the knotted front and the cutout, we avoided wearing a necklace, so that it didn’t compete with the front detailing. Instead, we gave Amber lots of fun rings, bracelets, and delicate earrings to show off!
All of the jewelry we used in this shoot were “showstoppers”, but I can’t stop looking at the rings in this shot!
Trends such as embroidery and metallic are still going strong, as well as pleats, wide leg pants, and off the shoulder.
Jamie’s outfit here is instantly dressed up by adding lots of pink sparkle in her jewelry and heeled lace up sandals with a basic OTS top with embroidered floral joggers.
Shout out to another Philly boutique, Bus Stop Boutique and their super chic oxfords that Denise let us borrow from her collection for this shot! They were exactly what we needed for this basic distressed tank and metallic wide leg pants.
I have an obsession with moto jackets, so this teal suede jacket was a must for my fall wardrobe. It was also perfection when added to Jamie’s outfit.
Cozy sweaters with fun details, like a flare sleeve or side slits are exactly what you want to wear, when you still want to look chic yet remain warm on a cool fall day. Adding a navy medallion necklace, along with coordinating rings and bracelets, to this sweater and jeans outfit, and it creates a much bolder look!
A cropped sweater, like this one from Shop Sixty Five is so fun for fall! You don’t have to give up that crop top just yet!
How fierce is this outfit?? Both the sweater and the pants are from Six! This outfit is like a modern, sophisticated yet still insanely sexy version of Sandy at the end of Grease. And that necklace – just WOW!
Faux fur vests are also HUGE right now. My entire outfit, including the vest is from Shop Sixty Five! That Burning Torch faux fur vest is the SOFTEST thing I own, aside from my cat, Dolce. I think everyone at the shoot pet it at least once. I can’t wait for the weather to go below 75, so I can wear it again…because I bought it after the shoot. And now I feel like Rachel Zoe except with short brown hair, glasses, and no vocal fry.
This is my, “Please, Tony, can I have all of this jewelry?” face.
So obviously, Amber is stunning, and she is killing it in this Milly butterfly sleeve dress from Shop Sixty Five. But we also need to discuss how cute that horse is! I was inside styling, but apparently, while Amber and Jes (of Captured by Jessica Lynn) were shooting outside, they came across a gentleman bathing his horse, so they took some pictures with it! A little random for Fishtown, but that’s ok! I’m just sad that I missed it! Amber’s jewelry includes fun pave ball accessories. Layered pave balls are the sophisticated version of the pom pom trend.
I am thrilled with how this shoot turned out, and honestly, my favorite part about it was the fact that we had a total #girlboss dream team with Denise as our leader. If you’re on Facebook and/or Instagram, you definitely need to see Denise’s work on Craiger Drake Designs’ social media accounts: Craiger Drake Designs Facebook & Craiger Drake Designs Instagram. All photography was done by Captured by Jessica Lynn, who you might recall, was the photographer for my event at LOFT King of Prussia! Hair and makeup for our models, Jamie and Amber was done by Philadelphia hair and make-up artist, Jessica Pineda. Even our two main local boutiques, Shop Sixty Five and Six are run by #girlbosses. I loved this entire photo shoot from start to finish, and I will gladly spend any day helping people play dress up!
