Labor Day Weekend is soon, and we’ve been lucky enough to get a glimpse into fall weather this week – cooler temperatures, low-no humidity, and it’s been quite lovely outside! As much as I love bright colors and prints in the summer, fall style is my favorite!
I’ve always loved fall as a season, but have dealt with the major anxiety of having to go “back to school” (both when I was a student and as a teacher). I remember when it hit me that I wouldn’t have to deal with this anxiety, I asked Tony, “What’s August like??” to which he calmly stated, “It’s ok, I mean, it’s still hot…humid…” so I replied, “I’ve been ALIVE during August, I mean, what does it feel like when you don’t have to go back to school??”
This is the first year that I feel like I have been able to enjoy August and genuinely look forward to September (my husband’s birthday), October (my son’s birthday), and November (my birthday), without also curling up into the fetal position on the couch whimpering incoherently about not wanting to go back to school (and yes, that was when I was a teacher, not a student).
Now that we’re approaching September, it’s good to be able to make use of your summer favorites, and wear them into fall. So, I am going to show you ways that you can transition one key piece from the end of summer into fall, just by switching out a few pieces. By choosing the right garment from your wardrobe, it can be easy to take something you wore all summer and transition it into your fall style.
Start with this not so basic tank dress. For those warmer fall days, wear it with a wedge sandal and a cross body bag, and you are ready to tackle your day! This dress is SO comfortable (I own it, and I can’t get enough of it!). The material isn’t too thin, it has ruching across the body, so it flatters and hides everything you want it to flatter and hide. It comes in six different colors too! I own it in “green wood heather”, which is also what is pictured below.
Once fall starts to cool down, you can throw on a faux fur vest and channel your inner Rachel Zoe (if you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I can’t wait to wear my new faux fur vest), a great bootie, and a slightly larger tote for more presence. Finish both outfits with a great pair of modified aviators that work with all face types (Check out this post to learn why.)
If you’re unsure of how to find the best options for summer to fall fashion transitions, I can help you with that! Contact me, and we’ll plan some time to go through your wardrobe together! As always, it will be fun – I promise!
